Spring in Beaufort means lots of things. Arriving earlier than most of the U.S., spring means warmer weather, daffodils in bloom, and the Lowcountry becomes green again.
It also means it’s time for our local strawberry season; a season that you’ll learn to look forward to each and every year.
Local strawberries are ready and it’s time to go and enjoy a taste of the spring at Dempsey Farms U Pick on St. Helena Island.
There’s nothing quite like going for a drive down Highway 21 and pulling up to the red & white sign on the right side of the highway. The kids and the grandkids will have the time of their lives.
The family-owned farm sells its strawberries for a mere $2.25 per pound, too.
A trip to Dempsey’s is a rite of passage for many of Beaufortonians of all ages, both natives and transplant, who just can’t wait to grab a bucket and venture out into the fields in search of the perfect strawberry.
It’s a springtime favorite in these parts.
If you’re here already, don’t miss out. Dempsey Farms U Pick is located at 1576 Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island.
